Laura Lockard

Laura Lockard is dedicated to leading efforts that contribute to a better world. That genuine passion, combined with her proven expertise in leading international strategic communications planning, public affairs advocacy, and development programming is at the core of Lockard Communications.

Laura currently works with international research leaders, universities, and non-profit organizations, with a focus on the African continent, with additional international development expertise in Central Asia and the Caucuses. 

In addition to global strategic communications and public affairs, Laura also works with US-based universities developing and implementing external advocacy and community initiatives, including engaging citizens to connect with their state Legislature.

Recently, Laura has stewarded global health outreach collaborations with federal and international organizations including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), National Institutes for Health (NIH), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), World Health Organization (WHO), World Animal Health Organization (OIE), and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

As a civic leader, Laura formerly held management positions as Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs at the Woodland Park Zoological Society, Communications Director for the Seattle City Council, and Deputy Communications Director for Governor Christine Gregoire. Laura previously served as the Country Director for the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, senior consultant for APCO Worldwide Public Affairs, and advised multiple candidate and statewide initiative campaigns.

Laura holds an M.S. from Northeastern University in International Relations and a B.A. from the University of Washington Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies.
